Mina is our tax planner. She works closely with our Advising team and tax consultant to take advantage of tax efficiencies for our Wealth Management clients. Mina also prepares our client’s tax returns.
Mina was born and raised in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. She also lived in London, UK, and Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from the University of Ghana with a BSC Administration (Marketing) and later with an MBA in Finance. In the USA, Mina graduated from Wake Tech Community College with an Associate Degree in Accounting. After her accounting degree at Wake Tech, she studied to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Mina was licensed as a CPA by the Virginia Board of Accountancy in February 2015 and later by the North Carolina Board of CPA Examiners in July 2017.
Prior to moving to the USA, Mina was a Marketing and Management Training Consultant designing and presenting training programs for her corporate clients. She began her accounting career in the US as a Staff Auditor Intern at Batchelor, Tillery & Roberts (BTR) in Raleigh during which time she participated in different audit engagements. And later as a Tax Specialist performing various tax compliance assignments of varying complexities for primarily high net worth individuals and small entities; conducting relevant tax research on a variety of tax issues/positions, and performing year-end tax planning for clients.
Mina’s first job after college was at the office of the Head of State of Ghana as an Administrative Assistant. It was very exciting to have the leader of her nation as her first Boss. Mina moved to the US from Vancouver Canada in September 2001 with her husband Emmanuel. She volunteered for several years at Gateway Women’s Care as a peer counselor and later as a Financial Assistant. Emmanuel and Mina are active members of Cornerstone Church in Raleigh.
